I've always had the desire to create and draw. It has been my
expression, my outlet, my joy. After earning my BFA in graphic
design and industrial design from The University of Michigan
School of Art, I worked as a broadcast designer. Making my way
from Detroit to Chicago to Los Angeles, I worked for CBS, ABC, and
FOX stations. I also served for over 8 years as the Executive in
Charge of Design and Graphics for Telepictures Productions, a
division of Time Warner. I've had the privilege to be a part of many
projects for television, from creative development to production,
branding, marketing and promotion.
Wanting to expand creatively, I pursued my love of illustration by
working on children's books. This led me to develop my own style
of line drawing that is colorful and contemporary. Winning Runner
Up for my modern style in the Society of Children's Book Writers
and Illustrators 2005 portfolio competition brought me great pride.
For more variety and learning I also started studying surface and
textile design at Otis School of Art and Design in L.A. It was a great
exploration into design for all kinds of surfaces: dishware, fabrics,
quilts, giftware, etc. This was a wonderful blending of so many
interests! I love to design things that make you feel good. It's my
goal to share optimism, connection, encouragement, friendship and
love in a way that reaches others through my visual art.
I currently license designs with Papyrus, Design Design, Inc,
Paperproducts Design, Roxbury Design and others. And there is
continued design work for television, most recently for E!
Entertainment and Style networks. Of course my most satisfying
work is being a mom to two great kids. They, along with my
husband and two happy dogs, provide great inspiration on a daily
basis!
Enjoy!
